Netflix is finally here for Android users.

It’s only available for a few phones initially:

HTC EVO 4G with Android 2.2+

HTC G2 with Android 2.2+

Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3+

They anticipate more support for other devices in the “coming months”.

Thanks to the fast working developers over at XDA, if you’re not on the list but have a Motorola Droid, Droid2 and Droid X the Netflix App has been ported for your device so long as you are running a leaked Gingerbread build or a custom ROM running Gingerbread.

It’s been working for most folks but not all so no guarantees but it’s worth a shot! You can head over to XDA Developers to get the download and give it a whirl!

If your carrier is AT&T, Bell or Rogers and you have a newly minted Samsung Galaxy Tab, there is one glaring omission. The ability to make voice calls! Well, now you can, thanks to XDA Developer member ClubTech who released a hack that will bring voice calls to your new Android tablet.

This method will not work on CDMA carriers or T-Mobile because of their IMEI block. T-Mobile users are in luck though, head over here and there’s a hack for you as well.

So, if you are on one of the aforementioned carriers, head on over to XDA Developers for the instructions and download links.

The official Froyo update to the Sprint HTC EVO 4G has now officially been rooted! There are step by step instructions at XDA Developers, though this isn’t as easy as the Android 2.1 root method. You will need to get down into the EVO’s firmware if you want to get superuser access. If you are willing to risk bricking, or making your phone useless, you may want to check of the directions at the link below (NOTE: Android Phone Geek takes no responsibility for this). I expect a much more streamlined method to become available shortly. [XDA Developers]

If you like taking care of things “manually” on your HTC EVO 4G, you can update to the official Android 2.2 Froyo as the RUU has leaked on the interwebs. RUU is a Windows program that’s used by technicians to restore or upgrade an Android phone to the latest version.

Here is how to to it:

Charge Evo’s battery to 75 percent minimum

Ensure HTC Sync is installed on your PC

Turn on USB debugging

Connect to your computer, and use the charge only USB profile

Double click the RUU and follow the prompts

Note: This will erase all your data, as well as break any known root methods. Unofficial updates can cause issues with your device.

Now that the warning is out of the way, hit up XDA Developers for the download link and have a blast!

While it’s not perfect, they have working WIFI, multitouch, Bluetooth, calls and so on. The camera is not working yet but it may be worth a try and I’m sure they will get the camera functioning in no time.
