Sprint’s Motorola Photo 4G Now Available is a post from: Android Phone Geek

Sprint’s Motorola Photon 4G is now available at your local Sprint store. It’s Sprint’s first high-end device by Motorola and their first with an NVIDIA dual-core Tegra 2 processor.

The Photon 4G also sports a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, HDMI-out, WebTop functionality, 4G and more. Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the latest version of BLUR is also on-board.

The Sprint Photon 4G is $199.99 with a new two-year agreement. It’s not Sprint’s first dual-core phone, but should be able to hold its own against the HTC EVO 3D, its closest competitor at Sprint.

It’s got 16GB of on-board storage, and you can add up to a 32GB microSD card for up to 48GB of storage. Also, it’s a world phone, so you’ll be able to use it on 3G GSM networks outside the United States. The Photon also sports a 1700mAh battery.

Nexus S 4G Maintenance Update Pushing Out is a post from: Android Phone Geek

The Sprint Nexus S 4G  on Sprint just launched on Sunday and is receiving a minor OTA maintenance update, which will be software version GRJ22. According to Sprint, the update will feature several enhancements, including:

• Improved performance and device security
• International roaming with Google Voice
• Tags application when using between two Nexus S devices

If you haven’t received an update notification, you can manually check by going to:

Sprint announced today that the WiFi only Motorola XOOM will be available through all retail channels on May 8th for $599.99.  While it’s odd for a carrier to sell a device not tied to their network it’s welcome news!

There is still no official word about a 4G XOOM model from Sprint, but it can’t be ruled out in the near future.

Sprint has announced what they are calling the world’s first “green” Android phone, the Samsung Replenish.  If you are all about the environment then this phone just may be right up your alley! Sprint’s new Android phone is partially built with recycled plastic and uses recycled materials for the packaging, uses less harmful materials, has an energy efficient charger and has a solar charging battery cover.

Here are the specs:

SAN FRANCISCO & DALLAS (BUSINESS WIRE), April 15, 2011 – Sprint (NYSE:S) today unveiled several progressive initiatives building on Sprint’s environmental leadership in the wireless industry, including upcoming availability of the stylish Samsung Replenish^™ from Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the United States. Samsung Replenish, an Android touch QWERTY smartphone enabled with Sprint ID, will be available on May 8 at the affordable price of just $49.99 with a two-year service agreement and new-line activation or eligible upgrade.

Sprint is waiving the $10 monthly premium data add-on charge for Samsung Replenish to make it easier for customers to make eco-friendly buying decisions. In addition, the Earth-friendly Samsung Restore, first available from Sprint in 2010, will be offered to Virgin Mobile USA customers without an annual contract beginning on April 18.

“We want to make it as simple as we can for our customers to go green with a robust selection of products and competitive pricing,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO. “Samsung Replenish is as green as we could make it with more than 80 percent recyclable materials, housed in partially recycled plastics, energy efficient and built with fewer environmentally sensitive materials. As if this is not enough incentive, we are also lowering the monthly rate for this phone by $10 for new or existing customers so it pays for itself within just five months.”

With four eco-friendly phones launched to date, Sprint has made available the most green devices and accessories of any U.S. wireless carrier. Marking another U.S. first, an optional solar charging battery cover will be available for Samsung Replenish. The solar battery cover and an Eco-cover made from Naturacell will be available for purchase on May 8.

Earth-friendly yet Powerful

Samsung Replenish, Sprint and Samsung Mobile’s first eco-friendly Android smartphone boasting access to more than 150,000 apps in Android Market, is partially built with recycled plastics and recyclable packaging making it the ideal choice for the environmentally conscious consumer who needs the latest technology. The phone will also be enabled with Sprint ID, which lets customers personalize their device instantly with eco-friendly focused apps and mobile content.
