A Sony Walkman iteration has returned and was announced by Sony. The Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, an Android smartphone packs a 3.2-inch display and has Android 2.3 on-board and comes with some serious music integration (Walkman like).

It’s a small device weighing in at 115 grams. It sports a 1GHz processor, pushing Gingerbread and a custom UI. The 3.2-inch display has a 320×480 resolution, 320MB of on-board storage, and comes with a 2GB microSD card. There’s a 5MP camera on the back that will record video in 720p, and its 1200 mAh battery is rated at up to 17.5 hours for music listening time.

It’s got a dedicated hardware Walkman button, and you might remember the “infinite button” from the previous iterations of its Mediascape UI. The infinite button is back, sending you deep inside the Qriocity music service. It’s also got xLoud, which is said to enhance the sound coming out of the phone’s speakers, and TrackID, to tell you what you’re listening to.

You can expect to see the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman in the fourth quarter this year.

Sony officially made their S1 and S2 Honeycomb tablets official during a press event in Tokyo. These two new tablets will be arriving on U.S. shores in the fall of 2011.

The Sony S1 is a 9.4-inch tablet with an “off-center of gravity design” that supposedly makes it easier to grip and more comfortable in the hands, similar to a magazine. The Sony S2 is a 5.5-inch dual-screened tablet that has the ability to use the screens as one large canvas, or feature specially coded applications running each display independently.

Both the S1 and S2 sport Nvidia Tegra 2 processors, and easy integration with other Sony products. They also both have the Playstation Suite moniker.

No specific products were mentioned but it’s rumored that Sony Ericsson is diligintly working on an Android 3.0 mobile platform which also probably explains their need for some Android developers to join their ranks. For Sony, it’s a no brainer given that Android is the future OS of choice (at least for me)! [Engadget]

In case you weren’t aware, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10′s Camera has facial recognition software that enables the camera to identify faces within pictures. For example, if you take a picture of someone, you can easily find more pictures that person since the X10 will group the pictures together based on facial recognition. So for a phone (actually smartphone) not only do you get an 8 megapixel camera but this nifty feature as well.

It looks like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has a little sister codenamed “Robyn” that’s really small.Â Just look at the picture, the device is tiny!

The ‘Robyn’ is reported to come with your usual connectivity options–3G, Wi-Fi, etc, 3.5mm headphone jack and a 5 megapixel camera. It looks like the same UI as the Xperia X10. It will also come in four different colors.

Everyone is anxiously awaiting an official appearance of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, possibly on T-Mobile or AT&T. In any event, here’s a look at the Google Goggles application running on the XPERIA X10.For those of you not familiar with Google Goggles, here is a description.

Instead of using words, take a picture of an object with your camera phone: Google servers attempt to recognize the object, and return relevant search results. Goggles also provides information about businesses near you by displaying their names directly in the camera preview.
