Samsung this afternoon officially announced the U.S. versions of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 Honeycomb tablet, and the Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is an 8.9-inch Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet with TouchWiz. It will be available nationwide October 2nd for $569 for the 32 GB version, and $469 for the 16 GB version.

The Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 are 4- and 5-inch Android 2.3.5 devices, sort of like a smartphone but without the phone. The Galaxy Player 5.0 sports a massive 2500 mAh battery, while the 4.0 has a smaller 1200 mAh battery.

The Galaxy Tab™ 8.9 joins the Galaxy Tab™ 10.1 as the thinnest mobile tablets currently available in the U.S. market, measuring at 8.6 millimeters. Xperia X10′s Camera Facial Recognition Demo is a post from: Android Phone Geek

In case you weren’t aware, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10′s Camera has facial recognition software that enables the camera to identify faces within pictures. For example, if you take a picture of someone, you can easily find more pictures that person since the X10 will group the pictures together based on facial recognition. So for a phone (actually smartphone) not only do you get an 8 megapixel camera but this nifty feature as well.

Lenovo LePhone Targets May Release In China is a post from: Android Phone Geek

It’s no secret that Google and China are having a little tiff, with Google even going as far as delaying two Android phones in China.  Lenovo on the otherhand is moving right along with the Lenovo LePhone which is set to release in May of this year on China Mobile, China Telecom, & China Unicom.

The Lenovo LePhone will sport a 3.7 inch 480×800 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and a 3MP camera. The picture above shows the optional keyboard. Worldwide releases will follow the China launch later in the year.

Xperia X10′s Sibling:Codenamed ‘Robyn’? is a post from: Android Phone Geek

It looks like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has a little sister codenamed “Robyn” that’s really small.  Just look at the picture, the device is tiny!

The ‘Robyn’ is reported to come with your usual connectivity options–3G, Wi-Fi, etc, 3.5mm headphone jack and a 5 megapixel camera. It looks like the same UI as the Xperia X10. It will also come in four different colors.

Motorola has announced the Motorola BACKFLIP. Some core features include a backwards-folding, outward-facing keyboard, a touchpad on the back of the screen whose functionality is customizable and even API-accessible, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, a 5 megapixel camera and MOTOBLUR. The BACKFLIP will be on multiple carriers worldwide including AT&T in North America (according to BGR).

Motorola also divulged some additional information regarding current Motorola Products:

• All Motorola Android handsets, including the CLIQ, will be updated to Android 2.1
• Motorola is working on Flash 10.1 integration, is optimized for the DROID’s chipset and will be pushed out the DROID at some time in the future
• Motorola DROID will receive a second maintenance update in the near future

Everyone is anxiously awaiting an official appearance of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, possibly on T-Mobile or AT&T. In any event, here’s a look at the Google Goggles application running on the XPERIA X10.For those of you not familiar with Google Goggles, here is a description.

Instead of using words, take a picture of an object with your camera phone: Google servers attempt to recognize the object, and return relevant search results. Goggles also provides information about businesses near you by displaying their names directly in the camera preview.
