The Sims FreePlay is now available in the Android Market from EA Games. In Freeplay, you can control up to 16 different Sims and Freeplay runs in 24-hour cycles meaning that you will need to check in throughout the day and respond to your Sims needs in real time:

Design dream homes or get fully-furnished houses for your Sims
Care for pets, grow gardens, even bake a cake
Give your Sims careers and earn Simoleons to improve their situations
Complete goals for Lifestyle Points, then spend them on hip items
Live with your Sims in real-time (when it’s day or night for you, it’s the same for your Sims)!

Sims is not new to Android but for folks not willing to shell out $8 for Sims3, this is a great offering so you can play the game without the expense. Keep in mind Sims FreePlay takes 600MB+ of space on your device, so be prepared for the large footprint! You can check out the intro video below.

Formspring is now available in Android Market. It is social app unlike any you have probably used. Formspring provides anonymous user interaction as it’s a service driven by the Q&A model. Simply ask someone a question, anonymously or otherwise and if someone wants to answer it they can. It’s fun and a simple time waster.

You can also smile at questions and answers and see who smiled at yours, follow and unfollow people and respond to questions with pictures.

Google Maps has seen an update to version 6.1.1. This new version fixes “bugs on tablets and phones” according to the latest change log. This includes an issue starting the Navigation app on certain Honeycomb devices as well as an issue with phone numbers on the search result page. So, if you have been experiencing any issues on your tablet or phone, hopefully this will take care of them.

You should see an automatic update notification if Google Maps is already installed. Otherwise, use the links below to grab your update.

Using SinglePlatform’s database of 250,000 menus, users can view over 13 million dividual food dishes in major cities throughout the US. There is also a new price filtering option so you can checkout the prices before getting to your favorite hangout.

Workaround for GPS bug affecting some devices.
Updated layout for pre-check-in screen.

The Tunein Radio app joins the growing list of applications that are now compatible with Ford SYNC AppLink. In case you’ve never used the app, the TuneIn application allows people listen to more than 50,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet radio stations as well as more than 1 million on-demand programs. Now you can listen to all that great programming hands-free via Ford SYNC AppLink. No word on exactly when the Android app will be updated but it should be in the very near future and I know my brother is going to be loving this on his new Ford Edge!

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 – The in-car listening options for Ford vehicles equipped with SYNC^® AppLink^™ will soon grow by more than 50,000 when TuneIn Radio joins the list of smartphone apps that are compatible with the system.

Ford and Palo Alto, Calif.-based TuneIn announced at the 2012 International CES that the TuneIn Radio app will be available for use with vehicles equipped with SYNC AppLink, and will provide drivers with another listening option that can be controlled hands-free through voice commands.

AppLink builds on the award-winning SYNC connectivity system by enabling drivers to access and control apps on their smartphones by simply using their voice, allowing their hands to stay on the wheel and their eyes on the road.

“Smartphone apps have ingratiated themselves into the lives of consumers to such a degree that we have come to depend on them for much of our news and entertainment,” said Doug VanDagens, global director of Ford Connected Services. “With the addition of TuneIn, SYNC is reflecting that trend while dramatically increasing the global listening choices for Ford drivers.”

TuneIn is a free service that lets people listen to live local and global music, sports, talk and news by offering more than 50,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet radio stations along with more than 1 million on-demand programs streaming from all corners of the world.

Using voice commands only, drivers of SYNC-equipped vehicles can control TuneIn and perform such tasks as search and listen to radio stations worldwide by artist or genre. For example, by saying, “Explore genre,” users can select hundreds of genres of music or talk stations like classic rock or German talk. Users also can search geographically by saying “Explore location.” TuneIn will then rank the most popular stations from the chosen location and start playing. More than 250 locations from around the world can be accessed via voice control.

Verizon has added two new DROID phones to add to their lineup with the new DROID RAZR MAXX which is a slightly thicker RAZR, but with a beefed up battery and a purple version of the original DROID RAZR.

The RAZR MAXX can reportedly last up to 21 hours on a single charge with steady use, however, Verizon wasn’t specific as to battery size. Other than it being a little thicker than the regular RAZR 8.99mm thick (regular RAZR is 7.1mm), the specs are all the same.

The other phone is a purple RAZR and again same specs.

Both phones will be available in the “coming weeks.” The RAZR MAXX will be priced at $299 on contract with the purple RAZR landing at $199.
