All the apps were published by Myournet and the apps use the rageagainstthecage exploit to root your phone , which opens the door for the app to do anything with your data such as sending it to a remote server and worse.

If you installed any of these apps, they should have been deleted from your phone BUT you should do a full system wipe and reset your phone completely as the data wipe and reset from settings may not be enough.
Android Market is getting a major overhaul over the next couple of weeks. This update will be for folks using Android 1.6 and up which encompasses most Android smartphones.

When you first enter the Android Market you will see a carousel of promoted apps on the home and category screens, Live wallpapers and widgets will have their very own categories. Also the app content ratings will go live and all the apps vital info will be on one screen.

As you already know, you currently have 24 hours to uninstall a paid application and get a refund. Google claims that most people uninstall within 15 minutes so that will be the new window for returns.

Keep your eye out for the update and remember that you will only have 15 minutes to try a paid app. Personally I’m not happy with such a short timeframe, it generally takes me longer to decide if I like a particular app. Oh well, guess you can’t please everyone!

It’s the start of another holiday season and with that comes the dreaded travel from point A to point B. While the holidays is a time for fun and relaxation, it can be stressful. Hopefully some of these Android travel apps can help make it that much easier.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be safe!

DRIVING

Glympse: With all the driving this holiday season, why not show folks your location so they can estimate your arrival time. Glympse is the easy way to safely share your location in real time. The best part about Glympse, you don’t need to sign-up. All you do is send a Glympse to anyone via email, SMS, Facebook, or Twitter. You specify the length of time you share your location and they can easily track you, it even shows your current speed. One of my favorites and it’s FREE.

Google Maps: This one is a no brainer but it needs to be mentioned. What gets any better than finding locations and using the free GPS Navigation on your device. I actually use Google’s Maps and Navigation more than the huge screened monster built into my car. It’s just better! Now with the updated Google Places you can see reviews and what’s open or closed.

FlightTrack ($4.99, $4.99 for the upgrade): Not free but a great app. The basic app allows you to get live flight status & gate info, live flight tracker maps and home screen widget with latest flight status. The extra $4.99 upgrade allows you to import your flight information from Tripit. Ten bucks is a bit pricey but your getting convenience and a nice widget.

Currently, there are only 14 countries which have paid application support in their local Android Market. Well, that is all about to change in the coming weeks, based on an email sent out to developers indicating more countries will join the paid app ranks.

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll be adding paid apps support for additional countries. If you have selected to publish your paid apps to all locations and intend to support all new locations as we expand the number of supported countries for paid apps, you don’t have to do anything. If you have selected to publish your paid apps to all locations but intend to only target the currently supported 14 countries, please update your location selections to target these specific countries.

Please look for follow-up emails when we introduce paid apps support for specific additional countries in the coming weeks. At that time, you’ll have the option to target these specific countries.”

Specific details on the additional countries supported have not been revealed but stay tuned, you just may be able to get that pro version of your favorite app in the very near future.
Apps Organizer by Fabio Collini is a great application which lets you organize your plethora of Android Apps by using labels. You can then create a label shortcut (which can use a custom icon by the way) on your home screen which accesses all the apps with that label (sort of like a folder on your home screen). I find this as a really useful application and it allows me to utilize my screen real estate more effectively. As an example, I have label set up for “Multimedia” which includes all my apps that are media related such as Shazam, Qik, YouTube, etc. Get the idea?

Include Features:

associate one or more labels to each android application

create a “label shortcut” (with a custom icon) on Android home that contains shortcuts to applications with a label

uninstall an application

If you like things being organized like I do, this is a must have for your Android device. You can get the download QR code and also watch a video after the break.

The really amazing aspect is the rate of growth, going from about 6,000 applications in June 2009 to the 20,000 apps today.
