Details for the upcoming Dell Aero have been released. It will ship with Android 1.5 with the promise of an eventual update to Android 2.1.

A lackluster 624MHz Marvell processor will be onboard and a 3.5-inch capacitive multitouch screen with a stylus for handwriting recognition. On the plus side, the device comes with QuickOffice, ActiveSync, on-device photo editing, and social networks.

It should be released the second quarter of this year.

Today is the day and many folks are finally getting their new gadget! Others are still on the fence and plotting their next move.

With the release of Motorola Droid on Verizon, to say their has been a boat load of reviews can be considered an understatement.

To help you in your quest, below are many useful links and information, all Motorola Droid related. Have fun!

The Droid Lowdown:

Verizon’s Droid: The Buying

• The Droid costs $199.99 when bought with a new two-year contract. In most cases you will end up forking over $299.99 up-front, then getting $100 back via a mail-in rebate.

• To avoid the $100.00 mail-in rebate, you can buy your Droid at Best Buy. Best Buy will automatically credit the rebate at the time of your purchase.

• The Droid requires a Verizon voice plan, which runs a minimum of $39.99 for 450 minutes. It also requires an unlimited data plan, which runs an additional $29.99. Text messaging is not included and costs extra to add on.

• Despite some initial confusion, you will not have to pay extra simply to utilize the Droid’s Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync feature. There is a $15 surcharge only if you have a multiple-line business account.

Best Buy

Some of the Reviews On the Internet (by all means not all of them but a good handful):

Boy Genius Report The Motorola DROID is now Motorola’s most important device in recent memory, and they’ve hit it out of the park with this one.

Engadget Yes, the DROID is an excellent smartphone with many (if not all) of the features that a modern user would expect, and if you’re a Verizon customer, there probably isn’t a more action packed device on the network.

SlashGear All in all, the Verizon DROID by Motorola sets the bar for all new Android devices and is arguably the best Android device to date.

Salomondrin.net I’ll say it right now. I’m sticking with my Storm2. The Droid is a great phone and would be a great iPhone upgrade, not a Blackberry one. Via: Twitter

Gizmodo In four months, we’ll probably see a new champion. That Droid sets such a high bar for everything after might be the best thing about it.

The New York Times The Droid is just incredibly fast, so it’s a delight to use. Audio quality is superb, both on phone calls and music.
