Formspring is now available in Android Market. It is social app unlike any you have probably used. Formspring provides anonymous user interaction as it’s a service driven by the Q&A model. Simply ask someone a question, anonymously or otherwise and if someone wants to answer it they can. It’s fun and a simple time waster.

You can also smile at questions and answers and see who smiled at yours, follow and unfollow people and respond to questions with pictures.

Google Music has been updated in Android Market to version 4.1.512, bringing fixes to the shuffle mode and fixes for multiple Google accounts. The update is for all devices running Android 2.2 or higher. I personally love Google Music on my Galaxy Nexus and the fact I can store my music in the “Cloud”.

Google Maps Updated

Google Maps has seen an update to version 6.1.1. This new version fixes “bugs on tablets and phones” according to the latest change log. This includes an issue starting the Navigation app on certain Honeycomb devices as well as an issue with phone numbers on the search result page. So, if you have been experiencing any issues on your tablet or phone, hopefully this will take care of them.

You should see an automatic update notification if Google Maps is already installed. Otherwise, use the links below to grab your update.

The Tunein Radio app joins the growing list of applications that are now compatible with Ford SYNC AppLink. In case you’ve never used the app, the TuneIn application allows people listen to more than 50,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet radio stations as well as more than 1 million on-demand programs. Now you can listen to all that great programming hands-free via Ford SYNC AppLink. No word on exactly when the Android app will be updated but it should be in the very near future and I know my brother is going to be loving this on his new Ford Edge!

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 – The in-car listening options for Ford vehicles equipped with SYNC^® AppLink^™ will soon grow by more than 50,000 when TuneIn Radio joins the list of smartphone apps that are compatible with the system.

Ford and Palo Alto, Calif.-based TuneIn announced at the 2012 International CES that the TuneIn Radio app will be available for use with vehicles equipped with SYNC AppLink, and will provide drivers with another listening option that can be controlled hands-free through voice commands.

AppLink builds on the award-winning SYNC connectivity system by enabling drivers to access and control apps on their smartphones by simply using their voice, allowing their hands to stay on the wheel and their eyes on the road.

“Smartphone apps have ingratiated themselves into the lives of consumers to such a degree that we have come to depend on them for much of our news and entertainment,” said Doug VanDagens, global director of Ford Connected Services. “With the addition of TuneIn, SYNC is reflecting that trend while dramatically increasing the global listening choices for Ford drivers.”

TuneIn is a free service that lets people listen to live local and global music, sports, talk and news by offering more than 50,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet radio stations along with more than 1 million on-demand programs streaming from all corners of the world.

Using voice commands only, drivers of SYNC-equipped vehicles can control TuneIn and perform such tasks as search and listen to radio stations worldwide by artist or genre. For example, by saying, “Explore genre,” users can select hundreds of genres of music or talk stations like classic rock or German talk. Users also can search geographically by saying “Explore location.” TuneIn will then rank the most popular stations from the chosen location and start playing. More than 250 locations from around the world can be accessed via voice control.

Today’s Amazon free app of the day is Splashtop Remote Desktop. Normally $9.99 (currently on sale in Android Market for $4.99), it’s FREE on Amazon today only.

With Splashtop Remote Desktop you can control your PC from your Android device, doing anything you would normally do on your computer right from you device.

Per their description:

This is the ONLY remote desktop app that streams smooth, high-res video and audio from your PC or Mac, allowing you to interact with your PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Quicken, and other applications. You need to install the Splashtop software on your computer and from there setup is simple! Be sure to enter your Gmail address in the settings if you plan on using over 3G/4G network. From my own experience, this is a really cool app and free today is just icing on the cake! Works great on my Galaxy Nexus!

Note: If you have an Android 3.x tablet, they recommend you use “Splashtop Remote Desktop HD” with enhanced performance optimization specifically for Android 3.x / Tegra-based tablets.
