Galaxy S Unlocked Vibrant, Captivate Sim Unlock Codes On Phone

Wouldn’t it be nice to take your Samsung Galaxy S-class phones and use it on another carrier’s network? In order to accomplish this, you’ll need to get an unlock code. Well as it turns out, all you’ll need to unlock one of these great Android phones is a USB cable and a simple script. Dagentooboy from XDA-Developers found that Galaxy S unlock codes aren’t kept in a remote server, but instead are stored in a .BAK file on the device itself which is easily accessible. You can find this with a hex editor and enter it when inserting a new SIM card.

Engadget tested each of the phones on the other phone’s native network and found that the Vibrant is capable of pulling 2Mbps via AT&T’s 3G network. The Captivate, on the other hand, is not capable of 3G on T-Mobile and can only pull EDGE speeds. The best thing about all of this? None of it requires rooting your phone so you don’t have to void your warranty.
