So you have a Dell Streak or just want one but you’re crying because it’s running Android 1.6. You’re in luck because the Android 2.1-based build of Dell Streak’s firmware has been leaked online.

The leak was posted at Modaco’s Forums and users are reporting no big issues and there seems to be a lot of positive feedback. You can download the file you need here or search for the mirror found deeper within the thread which may be a little quicker. [StreakSmart]

Installation Instructions:

1. Download The .pkg File, Rename It To Update.pkg
2. Place Update.pkg On The Root Directory of microSD Card
3. Power Device Off
4. Hold Volume Up or Down Button and Turn Device On To Boot Into Recovery Mode
5. Select Second Option
6. Be Patient and Let The Device Do It’s thing and reboot. That’s it! Enjoy Android 2.1 On Your Dell Streak
