The HTC Incredible OTA Android 2.2 is now available. You can choose to wait and the OTA update will hit your device eventually or you can update manually right this very second. This is the same file as you will get OTA and you’ll be running the same Froyo as everyone else.
Manually Update HTC Droid Incredible:
- Grab the OTA Here
- Rename to update.zip
- Copy it to the root of your SD card.
- Shut your phone off
- While holding the volume down button, turn the phone back on.
- In the white Bootloader screen, select recovery from the list.
- In the recovery screen (the triangle with exclamation mark), press volume up and power. You’ll go to the recovery menu.
- In the recovery menu, select “apply sdcard:update.zip”
- The phone will find the file, and when finished prompt you to reboot.
Reboot via the menu and you are all set.
UPDATE: Here is a mirror for the download if the other is too slow. MIRROR

Thanks man … This really works
No problem! Enjoy your Froyo
Does this delete any data do I need to back anything up before doing this.
You should be fine but as a matter of habit it is always good to do a backup. I’m assuming your phone is not rooted so you may want to download “Lookout” and backup your data that way. Also you can download Appbrain which will keep track of your non-purchased apps as well.
I got a similar error that was posted earlier in the AC forums.
It finds the update.zip file on my SD card, it opens it, then says “directory doesn’t exist.” After that, it says something about an “invalid signature.” I then reboot the machine and it boots up with the 2.1 OS.
Anyone else getting this? If so, how did you get it to work??
Eric, not sure if you got it working yet but did you put the update.zip into the root of your SD Card? Make sure it’s not in the download folder or any other for that matter and it should work. Let me know if that’s the problem. Thanks!
