As you will see from the video below and probably from your own use, your Android device in direct sunlight is just not a good experience. Taking a look at the video, TFT LCD (an older screen technology) and Super AMOLED display technology seem to look a little better than AMOLED when put side by side under the same lighting conditions.
In this video, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (TFT LCD), the HTC Desire (AMOLED), and the Samsung Galaxy S (Super AMOLED) were put head to head to compare their screen in bright lighting. The results are not surprising really, with the TFT Display on the Xperia X10 and the Super AMOLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy S allowing you to view text and images that much easier. As you would expect, the HTC Desire’s AMOLED screen didn’t fare as well as the others. [TechBlog]
