skype Skype Mobile With Video Support Later This Year?

Skype’s PR department has promised an Android app “for all consumers globally to download regardless of carriers.” that will support Video later this year. Not only that, but they promised to “set the bar on mobile video calling,” which is a good thing for all Skype users. Now that Fring has video calling, I can’t wait to see Skype’s version! Check out Skype’s full statement:

We’re betting big on video, and we intend to set the bar on mobile video calling, and it’s something we’re going to do this year.

We will be bringing a direct to consumer app to the Android marketplace later this year. This application will be available for all consumers globally to download regardless of carriers. (i.e. similar to how we offer the iPhone app today)
