There is no denying that the Android platform is growing quickly, but do you think anyone expected this kind of exponential growth? Android Market saw 9000 new applications in March alone.

Take a look at the chart below from the folks at Androlib which illustrates the ever-increasing invasion of new games and applications for Google’s mobile platform. Developers definitley see that Android’s growing market share is only going to get bigger and bigger.

Last month alone, there were 9,308 new additions Android Market. Keep in mind that quantity does not necessarily mean quality (use the Apple App store as an example), but this no doubt shows that Android is a smartphone OS contender and could eventually be the champion!
