tether android1 TetherBerry Now Called Tether, Coming To Android

TetherBerry, the very popular BlackBerry tethering app is coming to Android and will now be call Tether.  BGR got a sneak preview of the application at CES and commented it worked amazingly well. For those of you not familiar with Tether, it is an application that allows your PC to take advantage of your Smartphone’s data plan, allowing you to access the Internet on your laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage from your Android.

We got a sneak preview of its upcoming Android app and the Android version will rival its BlackBerry cousin when completed. We tested Tether for Android with a Dell Studio 17 running Windows 7 and a Motorola DROID and it performed amazingly well. Being an early beta, we expected some glitches but the Android version installed easily on both the handset and the desktop and established a connection with zero configuration. We did not give Tether an extensive workout but it did perform flawlessly during the short time we used it to browse the web and send some emails.

If you are interested in Tether, you can head over to their website as they are currently accepting beta users to help them work through the beta app.
